Otso is a small, wilderness-raised halfling Ranger whose identity is built around survival, scouting, archery and his close partnership with the wolf-like primal companion Neska.
Otso grew up in the wilderness under the care and influence of Ludo, a firbolg druid. This upbringing made the wild his normal environment rather than a place he merely visits. He learned practical survival, observation, hunting and the ways of animals.
Neska has been part of Otso’s life as a trusted animal companion. Their bond is longstanding and instinctive: they understand each other through posture, gestures, sounds and behaviour. It is not telepathy. Otso can communicate with beasts more directly by using Speak with Animals.
Otso is a practical wilderness character. A handaxe is more natural equipment for him than a shortsword, because it is useful as both tool and weapon. He is comfortable with a bow and is developing into a Beast Master who fights alongside Neska rather than treating her as disposable summoned equipment.

| Handaxe | +4 | 1d6+2 slashing | Vex; thrown; STR-based |
| Spear | +4 | 1d6+2 piercing | Sap |
Two-weapon fighting: Scimitar + handaxe is the established combination. Nick lets the additional Light-weapon attack occur as part of the Attack action, preserving Otso’s Bonus Action for Neska. The scimitar does not have to hit for the Nick attack to be available.
Concept: Neska is Otso’s wolf-flavoured Primal Companion / Beast of the Land. She is a Medium Beast and a combat partner/scout. The wolf appearance is flavour; use the official Beast of the Land mechanics rather than a normal wolf stat block.
